Zoo Day

We went to the zoo the other day. Just thought I'd share some pics. Owen likes going to the zoo. In no particular order here's the low down on the pictures. Owen on the playground at the zoo. No he didn't go down the slide just played on it. We put him in the giant toy box and he really liked it. He also liked climbing up the steps near the reflective pond. Aren't these the cutest groundhogs! Owen loved the animals and he also liked making noises at them. It was a fun day. And I promise his lion's mane was combed before we left!

Naughty or Nice?

Last night was our ward Christmas party. Owen sat on Santa's lap; he must have been told he was naughty this year. Maybe the fact that it was dinnertime and he had no afternoon nap played a role in his unhappiness too. At least he stayed on Santa's lap. Owen's little friend Lexi wouldn't even stay on. Owen's laziness earned us a chance to snap a few choice pictures though. At least he looked cute too. If you look close, Santa is actually Joel's hometeaching companion! Last weekend Owen took a picture on the Wal-Mart Santa's lap. When Joel showed him the picture today, Joel asked Owen, "Who's that?" and Owen replied, "Dada!" Although he says everything is Dada. Oh well maybe next year!

The Big Day

Today was Owen's first birthday. This morning we celebrated by going downtown to give Daddy his book that he needed for his final. On the way home we stopped off at Randall's (because they happen to have a WellsFargo inside) to deposit our sold Xbox money and get some bananas and yogurt. Owen was very happy and laughed and had a good time while we were waiting in line. The lady behind us was very friendly and asked how old he was. I replied, "He's one today!" And the cashier told the sacker to go get him a balloon. He really liked that. Then we were home to have a great birthday lunch and play with toys. We tried to take a nap in bed but just screamed so I gave in and held him. No one wants a sad birthday nap. After our birthday nap we got dinner ready and ate just in time for Daddy to come home from his final. We had birthday cake (again). But Owen still didn't really want to eat it. He liked squishing the frosting but none made it in his mouth (probably because it wasn't chocolate). Then we opened presents (thank you Grandmas and Grandpas), had a breathing treatment, and played with our balloon. It was a great day!

Ain't no mountain high enough for this baby

These pictures only do justice when viewed in succession. Owen started learning to climb first by standing on things. Now he can get onto the table without any help. When he first approaches the table we tell him (in a very firm voice) "No, Owen, no, no." He responds with a smile (maybe he is deaf!) and places his hands very firmly on the table. Then he throws his legs up, wiggles them a little and there he is, only to be taken off in tears. However, with one parent studying and the other taking pictures this day he was able to finally get to the window. I have video of him, but, I just have to get my techy husband to stop researching Christmas presents that he wants and get it on the computer!

Do you know where my raisins went?

This is how Owen eats his raisins. First he dumps them all out. Then he eats a few goes and plays and comes back for more. This time he decided to put the raisins (only a few) back in the container. What a smart boy!

New Tricks

It always starts with the look. Owen discovered the other day that the shiny thing on the side of the toilet moves! Not only does it move but it makes a noise too. Luckily the lid is always down when he flushes so he hasn't figured that the water goes in and out. I am afraid that won't be too far off. However, at least this is a small distraction from lifting the lid and trying to touch the water! The other night Owen noticed that he can see the handle on the toilet so he tried to reach for it. And what do you know...he can reach it! He uses the drain stopper as leverage for his feet and pushes the handle down. Now if only he could learn the things I teach him as well as the things he picks up on his own!

Dino Baby

Sill on the nebulizer. Sometimes he is compliant, like this afternoon when he fell asleep during his treatment. Othertimes, he literally kicks and screams and twists and turns. The cute little dinosaur on the mask doesn't seem to entice him. Can you believe it! Slowly but surely his cough is getting better-at least we aren't doing treatments at one o'clock in the morning anymore! Hopefully, his ear will clear up quickly so he can have a good birthday.

Jungle Boy

Just thought I'd share these. Too cold and too sick to go outside now. Hopefully, Owen will be feeling better soon so we can bundle up and go out.

Blogs...

So, I decided to finally give in. Everyone else has a blog so now I do too! No promises regarding frequent updates since my hands are usually full. This blog will consist of pictures of quite possibly the cutest little boy there ever was and a few of his parents (but lets face it, nobody really wants to see them)! So, enjoy!

Halloween Pictures

Careful...he really does bite!
